We ate pie and ice cream for the girls' birthdays. Both sets of grand parents, Bryan & Julie, Les and Melanie, and their kids, David, Isiah & Ninabah were all here. We ate, played and talked. Thanks to everyone who came, it was nice to visit.

For Kruz's birthday, Kelly took us out on Bottle Hollow. We had just sent Jalynn off to California for her Orchestra Trip, that's why she's not in any photos. It was a lot of fun and made me want a boat. (Not any time soon.) It was nice to get out, even for a little while. Thanks for the fun Kelly!

We spent the 4th of July in Wyoming. Carolyn and Ted went all out with fireworks. It was really good to get to spend time with them. I felt bad that Carolyn was a week from having her baby and was taking care of us. Can't wait to meet your new addition! Thanks for the fun weekend!

Jalynn loves soccer! Here she is playing in a tournament at the Cottonwood Heights Complex. Her team is coached by Allen Wallace, our Bishop. They won the championship. Way to go! Very proud of your hard work!

These two cute little boys love to play golf. They don't care where they play. On the golf course or in the front yard. They love it. We turned our front yard into a shoting range. They have so much energy!

We took a trip out to Kelly's property to look at all the improvements. It looks really good. Next will be weed control and fencing. I love being out there, very peaceful! I love all the trees and the sound of the water. I think the kids enjoy it too.

It's about time...

So, it's been a while...blah, blah, blah... I need to get back into the habit of posting. I even forgot how to get into my own blog. I could make it my New Year Resolution, but then I would definitely not get it done. Oh well. New year, clean slate, fresh start.

Kelly is busy with the ice fishing contest. Thank goodness he hired a couple of people to cover the weekends for him! Now we will get to see him from time to time. He isn't going back to school until Fall so I plan on keeping him busy with "Honey-Do"s" Lucky man!

Jalynn is playing basketball. It keeps her...us busy. She still gets to have fun though. New Years Eve she got to go to her first Tri-Stake Dance. I couldn't wait to hear all about it, then fell asleep before she got home. (Found out the next morning that she had fun and "No..I didn't dance with just him!"...hehehe)

Kortney had her first piano recital. So cool. She is learning to play the violin at school and the piano through private lessons. She got a rip stick for Christmas, but with the snow outside, she can only ride around our kitchen and dining room. She loves to be outside in the cold...I don't know how she can stand it.

Kruz and Kolby are excited to be going back to Joan and Jaden's house after the long holiday break. Thank goodness they love their babysitter! They had a great Christmas and Santa was able to find them. (Whew..we were worried.) Kruz is determined to start his own band at age 4. He got the guitar he has been asking for for 2 years! Kolby got drums, after all, he is in Kruz's band. Kelly gets to be in the band, Jalynn and Kortney have jobs too. Curtains I think. I asked if I could have a job and he said I can sit in the front row and cheer. Yay! Fan club president!

This is really late because I haven't been posting lately, but here it is. Jalynn got to go to California with the RJHS Orchestra. She had lots of fun and didn't want to come home. RJHS Band was there too. They competed in a music festival. They got to go to the ocean, got a tour of famous places, went to Universal Studios and Knotts Berry Farm. I'm glad she is getting these experiences. On a side note, Jalynn turns 14 in July and will be going to Union next year. I can't believe how fast my kids are growing. Kortney will turn 11 and will be in the 6th grade.

Kelly and Micah took Kruz golfing. He loved it and that is all he could talk about for days afterward. I knew he would like it. The only problem is that he is left-handed and the kiddie clubs we have are right-handed. We'll have to get him new ones, eventually, if he keeps up interest in golfing.

Sammi is my newborn niece and she needs your prayers. Her parents Les and Melanie could use prayers too. Sammi was diagnosed with RSV. Then she took a turn for the worse. Sammi was sent by life flight to SLC. Her lung collapsed and then they found pneumonia in her lungs. She is a strong fighting baby and we all hope it goes good for her and her family. We love you!

An awesome view. Six Lakes Lodge ... love it.Most of the gang ... missing about 4 here.April and Heather.Lory Olsen, stayed up with me until 6:30am the last night.Sandy and Dee.I think we had 8 tables set up.Sandy and Dee having a spoon war.

I got to spend time with some awesome ladies and scrapbook until my eyes crossed. I stayed up the last night the whole night so I could get finished and not have to do it at home. I had that Saturday off, so it should be okay, right? Wrong. I got a phone call at 7:00am Saturday morning asking me to come into work. "Uhmmmm, I stayed up all night, Can I take a nap first." By the time I got packed up and home, I had to go straight to work. I finished my route in a daze and I finally got to sleep 3:30 that afternoon. Thanks to Kelly who put up with me being away and then coming home and sleeping.

Mid-March we made a trip to Logan for a birthday party. The party was for Emma Mounteer and Tyler Perkins. We ate lots of yummy food, cake, ice cream, etc. They opened presents and topped it off with a snow ball fight. Thanks for all the hard work that went into it. We had fun. The only thing that could have made it better for me would be to have Kelly there. He was on travel for work and was unable to be there. Kruz got tired and threw a fit, Kolby took a nap.

Extended Family Home Evening

We spent a Sunday afternoon back in February at Grandma and Grandpa's house for an extended Family Home Evening. It was really good to spend the time with those who could be there in person and those who were there online. Here are a few shots of my boys with Great Grandma Richens. I just love these moments. I'm just sorry it took me so long to post it. I loved that Grandma was willing to spend time with the boys on the floor playing with Lego's and at the table playing with cars. Thank You, Grandma! Good times.

So, I haven't been blogging. Lets blame Face Book. I really hated it at first, but then I found a lot of friends that I haven't seen in years. I still don't like all of the silly games and the other things that annoy me about it. But, I can't seem to get away from it. Addicting! I have tried to limit myself to once a day. That works some of the time. On to other things. Kelly left today for SLC. He had to go out for work to the Sportsman Expo. It is probably more like play than work, but Kelly could use the break. The rest of us leave Saturday as soon as Dad and I get off of work. We are headed to Logan and will be back Sunday. Kelly will also be home Sunday. I miss him already. We bought another laptop. I guess Kelly needed his own, so I get the other one. This will be nice when he travels and we can keep in touch better. I have a scrap party tomorrow, so I will keep myself busy getting ready for that.

Here are the pages I entered into a CTMH contest. There are 19 other ladies who have entered also. The consultant in charge is having all of her scraping groups vote on the pages. I will find out the results next month at our scraping retreat. I did these pages a year ago, but I changed it for the contest. Wish me luck! At the retreat, we make enough page kits to share with everyone else. We go with 20 of our own pages and come home with 1 from everyone else. In just a few days I will have a full scrapbook ready for pictures. Plus I learn so much when we get together and share pages. I can't wait!

On January 28th I got my new glasses. They're a pinkish purple color. My mom had to take me from a primary activity just so I could get my new glasses. All my friends were amazed that I got glasses. Everyone was like "Is that Kortney's twin?". They were just teasing me though. They were not being mean. We were just playing around. I have had my glasses for five days. My mom said that I look normal like I've had them forever. I started to laugh about it at school. My friends were always saying that I look different. When I got home from the primary activity I started to watch T.V. from the stairs.

Kortney has an appointment on the 28th to get glasses. She is very excited. This is something we should have done a while back. She also got to have a small sleepover with friends. Here they are doing "Dance Dance Revolution". They had a lot of fun and stayed up pretty late. We ate pizza and played games. I like to see my kids having fun.

I get to spend the next couple of days home with my boys. The bad part is that it's because Kruz isn't feeling well. I hope he is feeling better by Wednesday because I will have to return to work. For now I will just enjoy my time with them as much as possible considering the circumstances.

Here is the snow angel that Jalynn made in our snow. I asked her to make it to put a picture of it on our Christmas cards. (Which I never got around to making!) I wanted to share our snow angel with you anyway. Have you ever tried to walk away from a snow angel without messing it up? Not easy! I tried to lift Jalynn out, and she nearly pulled me in.

This month Kelly and I celebrated our 14 year anniversary. We went out to Daniel Summit Lodge. We spent about 24 hours away from "it all". The lodge is nice, but I was disappointed in it. We have stayed in much nicer places for about 1/3 the price. Sometime when we are dressed warmer, I would go again to ride snow mobiles. (Snow machines for those of you in Wyoming.) The food was awful. So for breakfast we went to Heber to eat at the Hub. That was good food! From there we went to Provo and did a little shopping. I got spoiled at Bath and Body Works. I got to restock on my favorite lotions, perfume and soap. We bought stuff for each of the kids. Kelly bought a new receiver for our sound system. All and all it was a great trip. My favorite thing was having Kelly's undivided attention. It was nice to talk about life, what we want for our future both near and far. There was no work, school, sports, homework, ice fishing or other things to interrupt us. I really enjoyed it and really appreciate Dad, Mom, David & the Mounteers who helped out with our kids. Especially with Kruz getting sick! Here's the reality check... We get back from our trip and go to Jalynn's basketball game. We find out that the game was delayed and we are already at the gym. We sit in that gym for over 3 hours. I was pretty tired by the time we get home and fell asleep early. I realized how badly I needed that small break and that I really miss Kelly's undivided attention!

Okay... So I have been really bad at keeping up with my blog. Understatement! It feels like we run from one thing to another. I am really hoping to have a little more time now that Jalynn's basketball season is wrapping up. It has been fun watching her play, but I look forward to relaxing an evening or two. Kelly is always busy. If he isn't at work, he is sitting at Bottle Hollow running the Tribes ice fishing contest, in class, or doing homework. It has been quite an adjustment for us. The kids miss him and so do I. We are glad we only have 3 more years of this.

Trying hard to get back into the swing of things...

I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I know we did. It was very busy and I did have to work a lot, but now things are slowing down and can get back to normal. Santa was able to find our house and apparently my kids were good enough this year, because they didn't get coal in their stockings. Gift highlights: Jalynn and Kortney got a Nikon Coolpix camera from Santa. Kruz got a remote control truck from Santa. Kolby got a big bouncy "cars" ball as big as he is from Santa. All of the kids got Guitar Hero World Tour from Santa. We have tried to play as a band, lets just say it will take a little practice. Other gifts include clothes, books, Dvd's and games.
Our New Year was nice, but quiet. Jalynn and Kortney went for a sleepover at their friends house. Alina and Camilla are sisters that are friends with Jalynn and Kortney. I ended up feeling sad because the girls weren't here and had a hard time being excited. But I did get to spend New Years Day with them and cooked them a huge meal. We feel very blessed and hope you all do too.

Jalynn played her violin in her Christmas concert. I think she did great. She went straight from her game against Uintah to the concert. It was a long night to say the least. Kolby slept through the game, Kruz slept through the concert. Kelly was in class and had to miss it all. That is why I took lots of video. The focus isn't that great, sorry.

The pictures of Kortney are when she got home from school. I think she looks so cute. She was so excited and couldn't wait to get outside. Today we got our 2nd snow of the season. I like it, but don't want as much as we got last year.

Jalynn is so excited. She made the 8th grade basketball team. She played last year and needed a bribe to make the team. She made it and walked away with a phone and a really great experience. This year she didn't need a bribe, she wanted it bad enough. So in the next few months, there will be a few blogs about basketball.

I haven't been blogging lately, but I am trying to find the time. We have a lot of stuff going on lately. I did manage to update my cooking blog. Hopefully I can get some more done here. One thing I did manage to get done was taking a load of garbage to K&K. It weighed 770 lbs! It feels good to get rid of so much stuff. I still feel like we need to get rid of more though. Then maybe when I feel more like we are ready, we can get around to adding onto our house.

Take the Time!

Kelly had to give a talk in Sacrament last week about the Gift of Time. I have been thinking a lot about that lately. It is something that I haven't thought about much until lately. I often think about how I need more time. Always need more time. But what am I doing with the time I do have? Am I spending it doing the things I am supposed to be doing? I have had a lot of guilt the last month of so about how much scrap booking I do. Then one evening my kids and I got out my old scrapbooks. The one Grandma Richens gave me, One I put together when I was young, and two that I put together the first part of our marriage. They are so simple, but I love them. The kids got such a kick out of them. They laughed uncontrollably at a 'bare bum' picture of Daniel. They loved Grandpa's side burns and Grandma's bell-bottoms. I heard all sorts of comments like: "Why did you do your bangs half up and half down?" "Look what Mom is wearing!" "He's wearing high-waters!" Not all of the comments were making fun though. Many of them were about how skinny or young someone looked. There were also about how one person looks so much like another person. It was so fun to sit and not think about a lot of the other things we usually worry about. We got to go back in time and remember things that I wouldn't normally remember and see things the kids wouldn't normally get to see. Then I remembered why I scrapbook...So I can sit with my kids, grand kids, and who knows, maybe even my great-grand kids and look, laugh and enjoy the captured moments.

Happy Birthday Kelly! We love you and hope that you are having a great birthday. We didn't celebrate his birthday today because I had to work. Tommorrow he is off to his Uncle Harold's funeral in SLC. I won't get to go to that either, that's right, ...I have to work. So I will make him a roast on Sunday. I can't tease Kelly about being an old man, because we are usually the same age. BUT...for the next month and a half, he is 32 and I am ONLY 31! So, have a blast OLD MAN! ;-)

Kolby turns 18 months old today. Happy birthday and a half! This means he will be going to nursery next Sunday. Yay! This means that for the rest of the year, I will have two in Nursery. That's right, I will most likely have a nursery calling soon. That's the way it usually works.

Kolby and I were waiting for Kruz to get home and we decided to explore the yard. Kolby was so funny. He was running around looking at all the plants and of course the lawn mower. It had rained for a couple of days before this and the lawn and plants are happy. With cooler weather coming, I knew we had to get out and enjoy it while we can. I got a couple of cute videos of Kolby looking for his Dad and playing Peek-a-Boo. I will try to post those later.

Kruz gets to ride a bus to school Monday to Thursday. He really likes it. He even gets a little nap while he is traveling home. He gets off the bus in a great mood, most days. He wanted me to take a picture of him wearing his Lightening McQueen back pack. They had a Mock Evacuation from his school yesterday so he had 1/2 day off. He spent about an hour with Kelly at his office until I could get off work and pick him up. He really likes Dad's office. Today I am not working so the boys and I get to spend the day together.

I went to a scrap swap last Tuesday. I took the day off. Yes, you read it right, I actually took a day off. Eight of the CTMH consultants in the Basin area got together and we swapped scrapbook pages. I came up with a Halloween 2-page spread. Then I made enough kits for the other 7 ladies to put my page together. When we got together, we all traded pages. I went with 8 of the same pages and came home with 8 different pages. It was really fun. I learned a lot and was able to get some great ideas. We are going to do this once a month. I am still getting to know everyone, so I don't have their names on all of them. My scrap group meets next on October 9th. I can't wait. We will be putting together my Halloween page. Each time we meet, I will try to teach a new technique. I will be teaching about making our own patterned paper. The cobweb paper on my page is stamped paper, not bought that way.

So yes, we sold the trailer. It was a hard decision to make, but we know it is the right decision for us. We will miss it, but will eventually buy another one. Most likely a smaller one. I would like a smaller fifth wheel. We can't have a fifth wheel without a truck. That is a long way into the future.

1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.

2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice!

3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

4. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

5. Finish all your sentences with 'in accordance with the prophecy'.

6. Skip down the hall rather than walk and see how many looks you get.

7. Order a diet water whenever you go out to eat, with a serious face.

8. Specify that your drive-through order is 'to go'.

9. Sing along at the Opera.

10. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.

11. 5 days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you have a headache.

12. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream 'I won! I won!'.

13. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling 'Run for your lives! They're loose!'.

14. Tell your children over dinner, 'Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go'.

The kids were playing the Wii today. JJ & Kort were actually playing. Kruz & Kolby just thought that they were playing. We handed them the PS2 paddles, it was turned off. They were really into it. Every time someone won, Kruz thought it was him. Kids are so much fun!

4-Wheeler Fun

We went out the other night and rode our 4-wheelers. It was a lot of fun. There were several neighbors out at the same time on theirs as well. We helped Cody Gibson find his lost dog. It was at another neighbors house. We also made trails through our weeds, most of which are taller than Kelly. Sad, I know. It will take a tornado to get rid of them. It kicked up my allergies a little. I did like riding the trails with the boys though. I got several good pictures and some video. In the video, I was teasing Kruz by moving the 4-wheeler.

It finally got cold enough that we took down our pool. We took it down over Labor Day Weekend. It is just taking me this long to post it. The boys played in the water as it covered the ground. Then we cleaned the pool and Kelly sprayed the boys with the hose. This was our last fun day in the water until next summer.

I am getting my scrapping club going. We met for the first time on Sept 11th. I thought it went well. We have 5 of us that have signed up. There are 3 more that want to. It will be fun to meet with them and have our ladies night out. I will teach a different 2 page spread each time. I can't wait!

I am kind of bummed. We bought our new camera and used it for about a week. When the battery ran down, we recharged it and now we can't get the camera to work. We don't mkow if it is the battery or the camera. I figured I would buy a new battery. I found one on the internet and bought it. I couldn't buy the battery at Wal-Mart, because it is a new battery. Hopfully that takes care of the problem.

Kruz and Kolby are so happy to see each other after school. They roll around and play.

Kruz's 1st day of school was on September 2nd. I took the day off and Kolby and I went with him. His teachers are Miss Marlane and Miss Karen. He is in the Little Willow classroom. I don't think he can understand as well as the girls did, what is going on. Although he liked the trip to and from school on his bus today. Kolby was asleep when I put Kruz on the bus. So when we left to take Kolby to Joan's, Kolby was upset that we were leaving without Kruz. How do you explain that one? So next week when Kruz gets on the bus, I will be sure to have Kolby up and walk out with Kruz. Then he might understand Mom's not just leaving Kruz home. I realized that this was the first big time that they have been separated. I took tomorrow off because Joan will be out of town,but it works out great because I can spend more time with Kruz. Kolby and I will spend the day with him at school again. They encourage lots of parent involvement. I was only able to get a few pictures of Kruz at school because they have strict rules about taking pictures of the kids. So I was able to get some of him when he was alone by his locker.

The girls were excited about going back to school and getting to see all of their friends. Kruz and Kolby wanted to be in the pictures too. I took a few pictures of the kids on different days, because I like to see them dressed up. Kruz starts school on the 2nd of September. I will take that day off to be with him. I get 3 days off in a row! I made the calendar behind Jalynn and Kortney.

Kelly is off the river and he's safe. Being the worrier that I am, I worried every day. I was hoping all would be okay and he was. He took a lot of great pictures. I wish I could put them all on. We have a video of Kelly on the river. He was on a raft with his cousin Jay and they hit a rock and almost flipped the raft over. I would post it, but there are a few bad words on it. They got stuck on several rocks and were extremely lucky they didn't flip. Kelly slept on beaches at night out under the stars. (Because he forgot his tent.) The kids and I missed him, but we made it through a crazy, busy week.

Kruz was crying and didn't want to leave Ben's house. Kolby got fed up with it and plugged his ears. How cute is that? Then when we were almost home, we saw the sunset. Pretty. The rainbow was at Emily's birthday.

We went to Emily's party and got lots of cute pictures. We roasted hot dogs, ate salads, cookies, ice cream & s'mores. Emily was cute because she kept saying that she is 2, not 3. She was excited about her new gifts. David was quit popular. The kids all chanted his name and tried to get him to play with them. The weather didn't cooperate very well, but part way through the party, we did get a rainbow.

We are sad that summer vacation is coming to a end for us. Jalynn goes back to the Jr High for 8th grade. Kortney goes back to the Middle School for 5th grade. Kruz is going into Head Start. He has no idea what that is. I remember the girls being sooo excited. Kruz couldn't care less. I have heard that that is just one of the many differences between girls and boys. Kolby is going back to his old babysitter Joan. (yay!) And last but not least, it is official, Kelly is headed back to school. He will be attending the Extension. He is working towards His major, Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries. He will be starting after he gets back from his trip. I am the only one without a change. Still working RR4!

We bought a new camera. It's a "blogging" camera. I had never heard of such a camera. A lady at our ward swim party showed it to me. It was just a camera small enough to fit into her pocket. She takes it everywhere. You never know when you will have a blog worthy moment. Kelly is going rafting down the Green River through Desilation Canyon. They are shocking fish. He wanted to take his work camera, but it is so BIG. It fills an entire back pack. So we bought a small camera that he can put in a water proof bag for the trip. There will be tons of great pictures to share when he gets back! He's gone Monday through Friday:-(

The party was a small one. I'm not kidding. I had four guests. Kortney, Mom, Alice and Janell. I was able to get outside orders and it was really quite enjoyable. Melanie brought Emma over to go for a swim in the pool. Emma didn't mind the big cold pool, but we put her in the small warm one and she liked that. They look at each other and splash a little. Emma gave the boys a few looks that say, "Hey watch it!" It was fun to watch them play.

Ward BBQ & Swimming Party

Our Ward had their BBQ and swimming party tonight. We were running late and missed the BBQ. That was okay, I wasn't looking forward to it anyway. The girls swam and played with their freinds and had lots of fun. Kruz was asleep so Kelly stayed in the car with him. Kolby and I hung out at the side of the pool with friends. All in all it was a good evening!

We had the opportunity to go up on the mountain and eat dinner with the Mounteers, Dad & Mom and Bryan & Julie's kids. It was really fun. The kids ran & played. Jalynn took my jacket, so I enjoyed standing near the fire. It was nice to get away, even if it was for just one evening. Jalynn hurt her knee, so her and Mom had a hard time walking around up there.

With Carolyn's help (thank you) I was able to get it to work. It is full of what I like to call my cleaning music. Stuff you can move to, gives you energy. I get a song in my head sometimes and it becomes my theme song for the day. Today it is "Forever Young". I think you will like it.

Kelly went to Hill Creek for three days. We miss him tons!

July 4th camping trip!

I can't believe I put off posting the July 4th trip. It was so fun and great to see all who were there. There was eating, fishing, eating, playing, eating, sight seeing, and more eating. We went to Big Springs and found a "bum" tree. We fished at the Uintah Canyon Pond and Big Springs. We went home for the 4th and enjoyed showers, BBQ and the Pow-Wow. Kolby took a tumble out of our trailer. He had a short streak of bad luck.

Birthdays and More!

I let myself get too busy to keep up on everything. So here is a post that I hope will catch it up.

Jalynn turned 13 ! (officially a teen.) We had her birthday in our front yard. She recieved gifts and tips from her Dad on how to suck helium out of balloons. Very proud moment.:-( Her and Kortney got a combined gift that night. A 12' round pool. We set it up the next Monday. We tried to set it up in the back yard, but it wasn't level enough. So we set it up in the most level place we could find, our driveway.

Kortney's 10th birthday came 4 days later. We ate cake and ice cream in the house because it was too hot outside. The kids celebrated with a dip in the pool.

I got in the pool once, but it was too cold for me. Something about young ones, they can handle the cold. Kruz will play in the pool, but gets mad if anyone touches him. Kolby hates the pool. So I bought him a $5 pool. The boys love it. The girls do to, but not to swim in. They put it in the bigger pool, and use it as a boat.

If you are coming to visiti, bring your swimsuits. (At least the tough kids.)

I am now a Close To My Heart Consultant. I am excited to get going with it. I will probably kick it off with a big party. If I don't make a lot of money doing this, it is okay. I just hope that I can help pay for my scrapbooking habbit. I am worried that i am not creative enough to pull this off. I still feel like I am learning. Hopefully I will continue to learn.
